Candidate Learning Session

At Heading Home event, local experts discuss how Bloomington Council can help address the crisis in housing insecurity & homelessness

Candidates for Bloomington Council gathered with local experts in the field of housing security to learn about the region’s homeless response system and how elected officials can support that work.

Mary Morgan, Heading Home of South Central Indiana

The event, hosted by Heading Home on April 24, covered a wide range of topics, including street outreach & medical assistance, emergency shelters, coordinated entry, housing vouchers, landlord incentives, and regional partnerships.

Part of the session focused on existing plans — such as the Heading Home strategic plan and the City of Bloomington’s Comprehensive Plan — that can be used to guide housing security efforts by the city.
