Cold Weather Trauma Training
Heading Home partners with South Central Housing Network on workshop for front-line housing security staff.

On Jan. 17, Heading Home partnered with the South Central Housing Network to host a virtual Cold Weather Trauma Training for staff who work with people exposed to harsh winter conditions. The training featured Dr. Drew Waters, an emergency medicine physician from IU Health.
Dr. Watters described the underlying physics of heat and cold and reviewed how to identify and treat cold weather trauma, including frostbite and hypothermia. He also provided advice regarding items for street outreach workers to keep handy, such as sugary sodas, dry clothes, and cardboard.
If you were unable to attend the webinar, or know someone who might benefit from the training, please use this link to watch a recording of the Cold Weather Trauma Training.
Heading Home of South Central Indiana hosts a variety of informative trainings on a quarterly basis. To stay up to date on future trainings, stay connected with us on Instagram and Facebook.
