Heading Home Thanks Property Partners

Event highlights partnerships and resources for local landlords, property managers

On June 30, Heading Home of South Central Indiana welcomed local landlords, property managers, inspectors, utility providers, and community partners to our Landlord Appreciation Breakfast at the Monroe Convention Center.

Heading Home’s Mary Hamric gives welcoming remarks at the Landlord Appreciation Breakfast.

The event celebrated the essential role landlords play in creating housing opportunities while providing practical tools and resources to support successful move-ins and long-term tenancy.

Throughout the morning, attendees heard from local inspectors about preparing units for inspections, learned about available utility and service programs, and connected with vendors and community partners. Speakers included George Snyder, Housing Choice Voucher Inspector for the Bloomington Housing Authority; and Jeremy Bettis, Rental Program Manager for the City of Bloomington’s Housing & Neighborhood Development department (HAND).

These conversations provided valuable insights to help streamline the move-in process, improve communication, and reduce barriers to getting households into stable housing.

A key part of this work is the support provided by Mary Hamric, Heading Home’s Strategic Partnerships Director. Mary serves as a dedicated liaison for landlords and property managers, helping identify available units, connect residents with supportive services, resolve challenges before they escalate, and coordinate with case managers.

Attendees also learned about Heading Home’s new Streets to Stability Initiative, an innovative effort to reduce unsheltered homelessness by connecting people directly from encampments to permanent housing. Through dedicated landlord support, guaranteed rental assistance, ongoing case management, and incentives for participating property owners, the initiative creates a strong foundation for successful housing placements while giving landlords the confidence and resources they need to participate. If you’re a landlord looking to become a partner in this work, please reach out to Mary Hamric for more information.

We are grateful to every landlord, presenter, vendor, and community partner who joined us. Together, we are building stronger partnerships that expand housing opportunities and move our region closer to making homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring.
