Housing Authority Increases
Goal is to make it easier for tenants to find housing
in Bloomington’s competitive market.
At its May 25, 2023 meeting, the Bloomington Housing Authority board voted unanimously to increase the monthly voucher payments to be more competitive with the Bloomington market.
The changes take effect Aug. 1 for residents with BHA housing vouchers. Click here for a detailed analysis.
The proposal, brought forward by BHA staff, is intended to make it easier for residents with housing vouchers to find units to rent.
Currently, 36% of residents with housing choice vouchers, also known as Section 8, are unable to find units to rent.
Mary Morgan, Heading Home’s Director of Housing Security, serves on the BHA board.
