In the News: Housing Crisis
Limestone Post, WFHB, Bloom Magazine examine
housing stability challenges in Monroe County.
Homelessness and housing insecurity are the focus of two recent reports by local media.
The April/May issue of Bloom Magazine includes a look at homelessness in Bloomington. The report includes interviews with Heading Home’s Mary Morgan and several members of Heading Home’s Advisory Council: Emily Pike (New Hope for Families), Beverly Calender-Anderson (City of Bloomington) and Efrat Rosser (Bloomington Township Trustee), as well as others in the community that are working to strengthen housing security.

Limestone Post and WFHB have partnered on a “Deep Dive” series focused on the housing crisis. The collaboration is funded by the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County.
Part 2 of the series, “No Silver Bullet: Advocates, Officials Use Many Tactics on Housing Woes,” looks at solutions to the housing crisis on several fronts, including a new community land trust, zoning incentives for developers, and financial incentives for landlords.
