Resource Fair for
Unhoused Veterans
Heading Home joined community partners work to connect veterans to housing and other services.
On Aug. 20, over two dozen agencies gathered to share resources and services with unhoused veterans in South Central Indiana. The 4-hour event, hosted by Heading Home, aimed to move this region’s veterans into housing as quickly as possible, while also connecting them with other supports they need.

“We’re grateful to our partners and sponsors for their hard work in helping veterans have a better life, including a safe, stable place to live,” said Tatiana Wheeler, Heading Home’s Associate Director who is leading this initiative.
The event was supported by sponsorships from TRISTAR, Centerstone and the Bloomington Township Trustee. Thanks to these generous sponsors, every veteran who attended received a free box lunch and beverage at the Monroe Convention Center, where the event was held.
Sponsorship funds are also being used to address barriers to housing veterans, including apartment application fees and deposits.
Partners who participated in the Aug. 20 resource fair included: American Legion Burton Woolery Post 18, Area 10 Agency on Aging, Binary Heart, Centerstone, City of Bloomington Housing & Neighborhood Development (HAND), HealthNet Homeless Initiative Program, Indiana Legal Services, Indiana 211 Family & Social Services Administration, IU Center for Rural Engagement’s Creative Arts for Veterans, Indiana Tech, Medicare, Monroe County Veteran Service Office, Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic, Novo Nordisk, South Central Community Action Program (SCCAP), US Housing & Urban Development Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing, Vet to Vet, VA Benefits Office, VA Suicide Prevention, Veteran Justice Outreach for Monroe County, Volunteers of America/Supportive Services for Veteran Families, and WorkOne Indiana.
